Hi MartinR and thanks for your interesting post. I was aware of the Henniker memorial in Rochester Cathedral. Amongst his business interests, John Henniker owned a shipyard in the Chatham Intra area, approximately in the area of the former Featherstones store. A link to a list of warships built for the Royal Navy in his yard is here:

I read somewhere (and can't find it now) that John Henniker also had the contract to supply the Royal Dockyard at Chatham with fir for mastmaking.

Thanks Stuart.  I'd pulled information from both WP and Ancestry.  I hadn't chased down more that bare information because I was trying to make sense of the relationships and titles.  IF I get time I might work it up into a more extended piece.  Anyone got any tuits, specifically the round ones?
