I'm too young to have heard her in war time but not my Mum & Dad who always spoke fondly of her. Still a very strong voice in her last years. A sad loss.

MartinR:
Also known as "Every Night Something Awful".  ;)

grandarog:
ENSA was the Wartime "Entertainments National Service Association". Brought to the attention of younger generations by the TV Show  "It ain't half hot Mum."
After the War it became the CSE Combined Services Entertainment.
In March this year the CSE became British Forces Broadcasting Service Live Events.
As always the service continues to entertain our Service personnel world wide.
We saw many CSE shows on tour during the 1960's staring the likes of Lulu  ,Marty Wilde ,Hope and Keen ,Dora Bryan , Pam Ayres and many other stars. With a raft of supporting acts.
