Ooh another birthday on the calendar today !
Happy Birthday Zumiweb have a great day .
-
Lyn. Who on earth is Zumiweb? IF he reads this, maybe a post?
-
See https://kenthistoryforum.com/index.php?action=profile;u=274 (https://kenthistoryforum.com/index.php?action=profile;u=274) for his profile and https://kenthistoryforum.com/index.php?topic=556.msg7416#msg7416 (https://kenthistoryforum.com/index.php?topic=556.msg7416#msg7416) for his only post. Looks like a reader who just wanted to help out on one occasion.
Anyhow, happy birthday Zumiweb and your post was helpful and appreciated.
-
I must have remembered his name as it's a bit unusual ::)
But as there aren't many birthdays on the calendar I just didn't notice only 1 post 8)
I will try and buck up ! x
-
Happy Birthday Lutonman, have a good day :) x
-
Thank You Lyn L, yes a good day out for lunch with my Wife, Brother, Sister and Sister in law at Bredhurst Bell.
-
Lutonman. Sorry, I didn't see a note from Lyn but she is the guardian of birthdays, so many happy returns from me. It was nice to hear that you can at last go out for a meal, and, more importantly, that you enjoyed it. It must be like going to a Chinese a couple of times a year, so much more enjoyable that too often.
-
Belated wishes from ----------- me to you.
Mr. Lutonman - Oh! forgive me if you will
Your birthday ------ must give you a thrill
A treat for you ----- at the Bredhurst Bell
Must make you ---------- as proud as hell

Thank you Davie Smith, certainly is like going to a Chinese because that's where my Sister in Law comes from!
-
And thank you Castle 261
-
Just want to say ... I would wish you ALL a Happy Birthday IF they were on the forum calendar, sadly they are very few and far between !
Carried on from the old forum. Now they all seem N/A on profile pages.
Pleased to hear you had a good day with your family Lutonman. xx
My Gt Grandson is 1 yr today, so will be a family gathering there ( so nice to see them altogether ;D )
-
Lyn, I just tried to add my birthdate, and apart from wanting it entered yr, mth, day, it then erased it on each of my three tries.
As ever, tries hard could do better!
-
We may have to get Stuart to sort that one out !
I did notice it at the start of the year that it always comes up N/A ?
The only 'jobby' I've got on the forum and can't wish Happy Birthday to most of us.
Maybe one day ? x
-
I've just tried to input my date of birth into my profile and although the system reported a successful update, the date immediately reverted to the default.
Anyway, I'll be 71 on Monday. 1950 was a long time ago and maybe the system can't cope with these ancient dates ;)
Alec.
-
I'll put your Birthday on my own calendar Alec, be prepared :D x
-
Alec. As I will be at the hospital on Monday & quite likely to forget, I'll wish you many happy returns now. I remember what I was doing in 1950, although not to the day. It was one of my happiest years as I became a very keen cyclist. I still keep in touch with my best mate from those days. Lyn. If you are making a list, mine is 20 April.
-
I'm ashamed to admit that I've neglected the Forum recently, but in my defence, work has been ridiculously busy this year. I'll have a look to see if I can sort out the birthday thing.
-
Thank you Stuart :) we will let you off 'cos you work hard.
Got it Dave , you're on my calendar ;D even mine in November ( hint hint ) isn't on the forum calendar, just saying xx
-
Lyn. In case I forget- quite possible :D - Many happy returns of November. Stuart. Some forget that others are still working; how you find the time for both- PLUS the ship histories-, goodness knows. But I'm sure that all of us really appreciate your efforts to keep the KHF going. From an old fogey, Thank You.
-
Thank you Dave, your wishes are also on my calendar ;D xx
I have a good memory for years past, but forget what I went upstairs or in another room for now ::)
-
I did some digging and amended the permissions on the Forum so members can create and edit their own events, which hopefully includes adding their dates of birth.
Please have a look and see if you can edit the date of birth on your profile and then save it. Let me know how it goes. If that doesn't work, I'll see if I can find a mod to add it.
-
Didn’t work for me.
-
Nor me, let me put location but not DOB
-
Nor me, location but not date .
-
Okay, back to the drawing board ;D
-
If you can't be Mr Fix It Stuart...
If anyone wants their Birthday wishes, you can always PM me and I will have a special KHF Birthday Calendar . Just give me your dates and you don't even have to say how old you will be ! in my case I will twenty several in November 8) xx
-
Happy Birthday Invicta Alec
Have a good one xx
-
Alec. And many happy returns from me as well. :D Good on yer, Lyn.
-
I can only try Dave ;) x
-
Birthdays come but once a year
Someone`s drank - all the beer
Now will wine -- be your choice
We know you have ------ voice
`All round coke + a good cheer`.
-
Happy Birthday Alec, have a good one.
-
Nice to get a few birthday wishes from members of the forum - thank you all.
A neighbour asked me "Are you doing anything special for your birthday"?
"Yes", I replied, "I'll be sitting down to a meal with my son and daughter."
It doesn't get any more special than that folks, does it?
Alec.
-
Glad you had a good day especially with your son and daughter. It doesn't get much more special than that x
-
Happy Birthday Stewie, hope you have a great day x :D
-
Hi Stewie, Many happy returns from me( thanks to Lyn).
-
I’ll add my best wishes to both Stewie and Alec.
-
Many thanks for your kind birthday wishes, we had a lovely day at Chatham Dockyard with the grandchildren!
"And none will hear the postman's knock
Without a quickening of the heart
For who can bear to feel himself forgotten"
WH Auden
-
Belated Happy Birthday Stewie from me.
-
Belated Happy Birthday to Martin R.
Hope you had a really good day x
(Would have been earlier if we hadn't lost the forum for a couple of days )
-
Thanks,
We had a family get-together at a local pub the day before my real birthday. People came from as far away as the borders of Shropshire. Good food, good beer and great company.
-
Good to hear of the family get together Martin.
My visitors were from Lincolnshire I hadn't seen my friend for over 7 yrs and her two daughters since probably 1980 ish , great company over the weekend ( hence why you didn't get wishes that day ! )
Tomorrow have a wedding to go to, oh so busy after a really long pandemic time and everything happens this month ( more in a couple of weeks too ) when my eldest brother and family come to Kent , oooh nice .
-
Happy Birthday Martin R, I have sent yo a PM about the treasure trails.
-
@Lutonman: Profound apologies for not replying earlier, Things have been a little fraught around here with one son applying for jobs, one working from home, term starting for my wife and new medication (read lots of hospital visits) for myself - oh and add a major birthday! I'll investigate in more detail once I get the surgery to talk to me about the consultants requests!
-
Hi Martin R. As usual, as I don't have a list, belated many happy returns to you. So glad you had a good time.
-
Don't worry Dave. I've had a niece marry last month, major birthday this month and next month it's our silver wedding. Can't think of anything for November, but then it's party time again!
-
Happy Birthday to our Stuart !!
Have a great day ;D xx
-
Of all people, Stuart is number 1 for a birthday greeting :D . Many Happy Returns from me.
-
Happy Birthday Stuart ,Hope you had a great Day. 8) :) ;D
-
Happy Birthday Stuart
-
Happy Birthday Stuart, have a great day!
-
Thank you all so much for the kind birthday wishes. Didn't have much time to celebrate though, been working 12+ hour days 6 days a week for the past couple of months. Even the Forum has had to take a bit of a back seat, but thankfully it pretty much runs itself. Thank you all again x
-
Happy Birthday Stuart, sorry to hear you have been so busy. Try and take a little bit of a break.
-
Happy Birthday de mol,
Enjoy your day x :D
-
Happy Birthday de mol
-
Happy Birthday Bill Jones
-
Thanks Lyn. So many happy returns from me to de mol & Bill Jones. We've not heard much from them recently, are they still around or travelling Kent to soak up the very varied history?
-
Dave ...
de mol logged in a couple of weeks ago but as for Bill Jones haven't seen anything from him for a while.
May be they will both see the wishes at some point ? x
-
I have missed some birthdays so I fear
I could not have been looking, too near
With Stuart - entering a very old age
Some other person, will edit this page
Now it is de mol that I do not know
Someone should say ` I told you so `
Last but not the least, for him I say
Make the most, & have a nice day.
MartinR you have a lot on your plate
Get up early for them, dont be late.
-
Dave ...

-
Lyn. I seem to remember that you mentioned a while ago, that your birthday was in November. So, whenever, Many Happy Returns. Dave
-
Well Dave I will reach my 3/4 century on Friday ;D never thought I'd make it . Thanks for your wishes xx
-
Congrats for Friday, age, it’s only a number :D
My sister announced that her recent birthday was her fourth 21st.

-
Happy birthday Lyn, here's hoping you have a grand day ;D
-
Happy birthday to you Lyn
Tell, where have you been
We really have searched
For just that one church.
The crew rack their brains
For clues down their lanes
But for birthdays it`s true
The coast is clear for you.
-
Happy Birthday Lyn!Hope you are having a good Day.
Take care Martin (de Mol).

Haven't been around much lately, 12 to 16 hour days 6 days a week since Christmas. Busy busy busy! The tax man and my bank manager are happy though.
Happy birthday Lyn. Health, wealth and happiness...
-
Oh dear I can see I have lapsed on my 'job' with birthdays.
Thank you for the belated wishes and very sorry I didn't catch yours Alan TH .
There really aren't many showing up on the calendar now but I wish all of you with ones I've missed or can't catch Many more ! whenever they happen to be :-*
Alan I'm not going to work out your real age that's a stretch for my aged years now ;D xx
-
I'll help you Lyn, 78 and take your pick as to whether it happened on the 28th or 1st. :) Keep up the good work and if you miss a birthday or two.... never mind.
AlanH.
-
Thanks Alan, I'm catching up with you in yrs.
Thing is I've got so many in my close family and friends that I lose the plot on theirs ::) Was one of my Grandsons yesterday and I didn't remember til late in the evening . I should because there's 3 in within 5 days of each other .
-
I missed my dearly beloveds just recently and it was only when making a medical appointment for her and had to tell the other person her birthdate, I suddenly remembered. Shock horror, the first time in many decades I've forgotten. :)
The bruises are fading now..... :O
Cheers.
AlanH.
-
Oh dear Alan that's very naughty of you ! but glad to hear the bruises are fading ;) Thank goodness she knows you well.
My late hubby was very good and our anniversary usually . His birthday is among a load of others in my family the whole of August ! People must have been very busy 9 mths previously ;D x
-
I carry all sorts of info between my ears Lyn like passwords, account numbers, credit card numbers, phone numbers etc but nothing which would really be a help in making me rich and famous. :)
I get some real strange looks when I rattle off a number others have to check on their phone/diary etc. I had a run in with a bank "customer service officer" recently when she asked if I had my account number written down including my passwords.... my response was somewhat robust as they say.
"Madam, I may well be in my seventies but that does not mean I'm senile" plus a couple of other things I shan't mention here. :O
Keep up the good work.
AlanH.

As I don't see Lyn in recent months, I hope that she is ok? As I was 92 last Wednesday & quite honestly, a month ago, didn't think that I would make it, I will record the event. I haven't lived in Kent( although born & bred there) since 1968,so am unable to appear on GtP- but I do read with interest- thank you all contributors. I now live, since Covid, in SW Scotland. We had a great day, "the sun shines on the righteous, & the rest of us!"

I'm friends with Lyn on Facebook. I also use Facebook Messenger to keep in touch with family members around the world (especially my daughter in the United States) and often see her online there.

-
Thank you Rog and Tina that was brilliant xx
-
Happy Birthday Lyn L have a great day.
-
It`s HER Birthday - is it not
It`s time now for a wee tot
Only we forget - that is true
Oh! heck - I forgot the plot.
Not many days I remember
Now it really is - December
Trust Lyn to remember - all
When is mine - I cant recall.
Best wishes to LYN - the Birthday Lady.
-
You can forget my birthday any time you like Lyn. I wish I could. When officialdom now asks me for the date I respond "I dunno, it was so long ago I've forgotten". They think that's normal for anyone over their age and usually look it up in their vast record systems.
AlanTH.
-
Thank you Castle261 and AlanTH,
Know exactly what you mean Alan, time to forget now, this year was better than the 3/4 century one last year cos I actually got to see my three sons , my eldest Grandaughter and two of her littlies, and another visit from my youngest Grandaughter ( 5 ) was so nice to have kids in the house again. Then topped it all last night with dinner out ! Who knows if I'll get another one anyway xx
:P
-
Thank you Castle261 and AlanTH,
Who knows if I'll get another one anyway xx
:P
Plenty more waiting for you Lyn. Keep on keeping on. Alan.
-
I'd like to think so Alan, I'll keep on trekking ( indoors lol )
got a new Gt Grandbaby ( boy ) to add to the collection at New year . My family like to even the score , 3 of each Grands and 2 of each Gt grands so far and they do cheer me up xx
-
We've got g/kids and the g/g/kids as well Lyn. Most are lovely but others are now teens...... :O
Good luck. :)
AlanH.
-
Yet another birthday passes and I'm still a teenager at 19.3/4. :) Have a good one all those other Leap Year people. :)
AlanTH .
-
So ..... AlanTH
Happy Birthday you old teenager !
Have a very good one x
-
Happy birthday.
I've always wondered, for those things that happen on your birthday (coming of age, driving licences, pensions etc), do they use 28th, 29th (and accept that it is infinitesimally small 3 years out of 4) or 1st? I assume there must be a legal position?
Remember to take your age ID with you to the pub - think 25 and all that! ;D
-
Happy Birthday AlanTH,have a good one
-
Thnx Lutonman, MartinR and LynL. I really would like to be challenged as to whether I'm old enough to drink or not, but I suppose one look at a lined faced and ugly old git is enough to assure them I'm indeed past the legal age required. :(
Oh woe is me. :)
AlanH.
-
Happy Birthday Stuart :D
Thank you for keeping up the good work and hope you have great celebrations xx
-
Nothing to add to Lyn's good wishes and thanks other than my own name.
-
Recently I've had problems with staff at Gov. Depts here do not know about Feb having 29 days every 4th year. Twice I've had them solemnly intone "That date does not compute' when I've arrived at their desk.
I respond by saying in a very loud voice '29.02.1944 Put the right data in and you'll get the correct answer out'.
The look on their faces when they try again is wonderful although I think they both wanted to kill me for showing them that just because I'm an old fart, I ain't completely gaga. :) But the grins on other oldies faces is great.
Anyone else had this problem?
AlanTH.
-
Not the same, but a related problem: many years ago I was born, and my parents had agreed on John (after Wesley) and Martin (after Luther). Dad registered me as John Martin, but Mum simply told the nurses that I was Martin. This was not a problem for many years, on official forms I either underlined or used block capitals for MARTIN, and lower case/small caps for John. Then computers came along! Well written code has a space for "Known as:" or "Nickname:", badly written code just wants first name and surname. For instance at the bank once I had a check which just used "Martin", and the cashier (all of 20) tried to explain v e r y s l o w l y that my "legal name" was "John" and would not accept it (I just went to another branch and used the ATM). My hospital records now have me as "Martin John"! Ah well, as the Yorkshire saying goes: "Call me ought you like - just don't call me late for dinner".
-
Another birthday slips by virtually un-noticed.
But being as I've had 20 of them now I suppose it means I'm no longer a teenager. :)
AlanTH.
-
In another 4 years you'll get the key to the front door.
Many happy returns.

Probably the wife will veto that. :)
