My father was a deep sea fisherman, with four of his brothers, fishing for Herring / Cod, off Iceland.
The claim to fame was one of it`s citizens. who later became a Prime Minister.
It outgrew from an obscure village into one one Britain`s premier ` early warning bases `.
It was in the news last week, shadowing a Russian military aircraft, testing our defences.
My father came to this village, with the family, from another fishing village, along the coast.
Where it it ?

That sounds like Lossiemouth, but if so I fail to see the Kent connection.

You are right MartinR, my father was a Chatham based sailor, before a transfer to the Dover Patrol.

Blunt. Necessary?

@castle261, thanks. I was puzzling over this and just could not make the link to the forum, so deleted my reply. Then thought again, wrote the reply and then deleted it. Finally I screwed up the courage to suggest Scotland!
