Useful new site: Old Bunyards

(1/1)

Archi93:
Here is another really interesting site. It is the Internet Archive, and for Kent the link is

https://archive.org/search.php?query=kent+england&and[
It has scanned copies of historic books and leaflets on Kent, which you can read online or download as PDF or single pages. It is all free. For books published after 1923, you can sign in and "borrow"them for up to 14 days
When you get to their site, use index on left to click on specific topics.

Fascinating to read all the different categories.
I looked at Ideal Homes, and found Chilston Park there. It was the birthplace of my late hubby's 4 x times Gt Grandmother Louisa Best  when the family were in residence there.
Only visited once with him but was  interesting to see it.
Thank you Mike.

Dave Smith:
Mike. Thanks from me also. I got so wrapped up in it, going from one person to the next- ALL new to me- that I ended up in trouble! Anyone self isolating & interested in Kent history, this is meant for you.

This is a new and first class web site and it seems very checked.

Old Bunyards Kent Pride is a very well put together site. Well worth a look as it has eight main topics, including residents of Kent, and famous houses in Kent, with photos and info in each sub section. Never seen it before. Thank you Mike Gunnill for drawing it to our attention.
