Cinema Treasures a resource

(1/2) > >>

Smiffy:
I'm not sure anyone's going to get this, so I'll reveal the answer. It was actually the Gem, which was subsequently renamed the Kings Hall cinema. Opened in 1910, it lasted until 1935 before being destroyed by a fire. Listed as being sited in Jeffrey St, it was actually located just around the corner in King street (hence, I assume, the later name change).

Smiffy:
There's a Central theatre, but not a Central cinema that I know of. This one was actually within a couple of hundred yards of the Grand.

smiler:
was gonna add Gaumont but realise we have Palace, also Odeon which I think changed to Embassy

John Walker:
Was there one called Central Cinema?

Smiffy:
No, DTT - this was a completely different cinema. I'm being a bit cheeky though as it disappeared a long time ago.
