Never managed to make Tracey Island for my children, did not have enough bog roll centres.
-
How did this turn out then?

So this is aimed at junior school boys: saw, rasp, plane, drill (including drilling metal). Could you imagine the Beeb suggesting this today.
About a decade and a half earlier I remember making the Blue Peter farm. Lots of sticking card to paper, fingers and the table top.

And who could possibly forget the coat-hanger based Advent crown?

The sledge turned out OK, I made two, the one I made for my children is still alive and kicking, in the shed. The other I made for my nephew and nieces, unfortunately my oversized brother in law and his brother rode it down a slope near where we live, they became airborne, I will leave the resulting mental picture up to you.
Ah, the advent crown from wire coat hangers, it used real candles.
The planes for both are on the internet if anyone wants to try their hand.
Martin R, I think the show advised you get your Dad to do it.
