Yes it would be "nicer" to use real names but for security reasons on open sites I keep it off.  I don't think its possible to change your name on this site without reregistering.

I usually use my real name for ease of remembering and it's also my preference. Maybe I should rethink this.

Thanks for your responses, they all make perfect sense.  It was just a thought as I was replying to one of you and it seemed odd calling you by a pseudonym.

Best wishes

When you join this type of forum you generally have little knowledge of its workings and “atmosphere “.

Using a pseudonym is therefore often seen as a sensible choice. My favourite is “not my real name”.

With forums attached to clubs or associations then your registered (real) name is often used by default.

I use my two Christian names on another forum as well, simply leaving off the surname. I do not play on FB et al.

Knowing how much information can be gleaned from the net I am cautious that a malevolent soul, and we have had some, could cause upset for the rest of the members.

I also suspect that changing one’s name will be impossible without re-registration, so I vote for the status quo.

Mines real but I only use my Christian name and initials on most social sites. I have a couple of aliases on FB though. :)

Hi all,  Just a personal preference, but I feel it would be nice and friendly to have real names rather than pseudonyms.  A few of us use our own names in messages.  I wonder what others feel about this.  Probably too late to change it though.
