My father worked as an under gardener for the Earl of Westmoreland here before the First World war.
When he came back the Earl had gone along with the job.
I wonder how many kids from Sittingbourne and surrounding villages played in the derelict house when it was used by the Civil Defence for training after WW2. Loads of stories to tell of being chased off by the caretaker . Eventually he didn't bother chasing any more ,just tried to lure the girls to his room.
