On the Deal - Dover Road, at the junction with the St Margaret's turn-off is a patch of open ground on the seaward side. Nothing there but grass.
Years ago, this was referred to as the Round House, despite the lack of any sort of house. round or otherwise. I was told that the Round house was a gatehouse or lodge for Oxney Court and demolished between the wars.
Does anyone know if this is the case?

Looking at the period maps of the O.S, there was indeed a gate lodge there at the southern entrance to Oxney Court. Shown as Cliffhouse Lodge on the 1st and 2nd Eds. (1871 & 1898) of the O.S, by the 3rd Ed. (1907) and 4th Ed. (1921) it is just illustrated as Lodge. There was also another 'Lodge' at the end of its northern entrance also where it joined the main Deal - Dover Road.
