Title: crash landing ?
Post by: castle261 on June 15, 2023, 10:14:58 AM
I go on my bike ride towards Maidstone - then on to Tonbridge. This day was different - as I approached Rochester Airport - several squadrons
of Flying Fortresses were coming back - from over the Maidstone area - Then one came over - flying low - less than 400 ft - suddenly a green
flare shot up in the air - which to my mind meant - either the pilot was signalling `am in trouble - must land `- or from the ground could mean
` Airfield too short to land ` - I saw the plane flying off towards Southend. - I continued towards Tonbridge - The next day I heard a plane had
crash landed at Auger`s Farm near the Waterworks - on Waterworks Hill.
