Title: Medway Estuary Map 1561
Post by: Admiral D on June 10, 2022, 04:32:52 PM
Medway Estuary 1561 - not quite O/S standard but gives you an idea of what it looked like back then, note the marshes, later decimated by the brick and cement industry, mid 19th century.

(its taken 40 mins to post this because its either too big or not the right format - really painful)

Fascinating, where did the map originate?  Looking at some of the spellings I did wonder if it was associated with the Raid on the Medway of 1667, but that was over 100 years later, so a red herring.
