I'm not sure anyone's going to get this, so I'll reveal the answer. It was actually the Gem, which was subsequently renamed the Kings Hall cinema. Opened in 1910, it lasted until 1935 before being destroyed by a fire. Listed as being sited in Jeffrey St, it was actually located just around the corner in King street (hence, I assume, the later name change).

There's a Central theatre, but not a Central cinema that I know of. This one was actually within a couple of hundred yards of the Grand.

No, DTT - this was a completely different cinema. I'm being a bit cheeky though as it disappeared a long time ago.

I believe the Palace (now Camping International) was renamed the Gaumont.  is this what you are thinking, Smiffy?

Embassy, Grand, Palace, Plaza and Regal.

I went to that site & put in Gillingham cinemas & it told me there were none; Sad day!
