What village what this Rog? Mentions of brick fields and water and railway lines puts me obviously in mind of Lower Halstow, but i guess it could be anywhere... I read the article twice, but could not see it named.

Sad though this story is, let us not forget that they were on their way to bomb US! A friend of mine was bombed out twice when living in London. He was lucky as he survived but his neighbours did not. More to the point, those American aircrew who died on D day- see my post- were on OUR side & died Very Many miles from home in an effort to free us all from the Nazi tyranny, so they are an even greater "sobering thought". Conclusion- WAR is stupid!
