El Galeon, Ramsgate Harbour

Thought people would like to know about a replica 17th century Spanish Galleon birthed at Ramsgate Harbour until the 14th May as part of its European tour. Once finished at Ramsgate it will be going to Weymouth for the 16th until the 22nd and then on to Southend on Sea until the 28th before returning across the Channel to Le Harve - Rouen - Bordeax - Loctudy - Bremerhaven. Passage on the ship between its stops can be booked for between 250 - 400 (euros) with some slots already fully booked.

During high tide ticketed access to the ship is possible, but during low tide it sits too low on the quayside for public access.

The ship was built in Spain in 2009 and though not a true and faithful copy of a Galleon, it really provides a glimpse of a once common ship seen around not just European waters, but the then known world. Well worth a visit if not just to see a tall ship in an historic harbour setting.
