Title: Folkestone in 1904
Post by: Invicta Alec on May 27, 2020, 01:27:46 PM
A chap called Steven Longman on the Facebook pages of the group called "We love Folkestone" has today provided a link to a fascinating YouTube video showing townspeople from all that time ago.

A priceless five minute historical document, do watch it.

Thanks Alec.  Strange to think the chap walking along with his medals would be a Boer War veteran, WWI was still a decade away.

Yes indeed Martin, and strange to think all this was two years before my grandfather was born!

Maybe it's just me, but I find it awfully poignant seeing the young lads running around carefree knowing what was coming as they grew to manhood.  Fortunately they didn't know, and could enjoy their youth unworried by trenches and shells.
