I have set up https://www.facebook.com/GTPKHF

Anyone here making friend requests will be enabled for now, see how many respond. I will set that facebook so anyone can find it but only friends can see and make posts.

It's a great idea Local hiker.  If there's enough take-up then I would be happy to give it a try.
Thanks for your offer.

That's a very kind offer Local Hiker, but for me would be impractical as I'm one of those dinosaurs that doesn't have a Facebook account/page, or any other form of social media as my life isn't that exciting to broadcast ;).

if the regulars still want to carry on a guess the place game outside of the KHF website, I could set up a dedicated facebook account to play the game in. That would overcome the site certificate and log in issues, and would allow those members who wish to remain in contact to do so in the event that this site becomes inaccessible or even closes down.

Is there an appetite for such a facebook site? There is no point in me setting it up and administrating it if there is no interest.

This is not working - I have just had to bypass four blocks to get on tonight.  I'm guessing by the lack of response, everyone else is having similar problems.

Best wishes to all

Thanks CAT.  Sorry for delay, I was getting text-only screens until this afternoon.

Next one you will probably know CAT, but others might find it more difficult.

It is Adisham Station Johnnie Walker, and you are right with the suspect device, though it was more than a few years back. Though the station is just another through station on the London - Canterbury - Dover line, it was once much larger and was seen as a fairly large shunting station for goods to and from the former coalmines nearby. So much so, the census notes at least a couple of prominent families engaged in the coal merchant trade.

Over to you Johnnie Walker

The station looks like Adisham. I took a train there to Hydraquip next door to purchase some hose fittings. I seem to recall a home-made bomb being set off in the phone box there a few years back.

... I also think that with the high number of "guests" regularly logged into a fairly inactive website, (currently 13), the site is being mined by BOTs.

I do wish Stuart well. He had been asking for Admin support a while ago because he had a lot going on.
https://kenthistoryforum.com/index.php?topic=845.0

Sadly, with the best will in the world to carry on the old Kyn's site's function on t'interweb, this site really just primarily provided a new home for Guess the place.

I do pop in to monitor GTP with a view to carrying on playing.
I know the answer to the current GTP, but it is a commercially available print rather than a personal photo. I will leave it for others to guess this one.
I also need to get out more and take some GTP images to contribute.

I'm happy to carry on, but my access to the forum is intermittent. This morning, I went straight into the forum with no warnings and a normal screen layout. Other times, I can't get in at all or just get the blue text version. It's quite frustrating.

That was my thoughts also regards the certification. Do hope all is well with the administrator.

Are we happy to continue with this GTP without any personal details required?

I am no expert, but looks like the SSL certificate has expired and needs renewed, which needs done by site administration (Stuart).

I recommend that nobody posts any private or personal or intimate information on the site... (not that you should even if the certificate was in place).

No reply from Stuart so far.  He usually responds quite promptly.  I hope he's ok.
